Uncommon Athlete Summer Camps
Kids: 8-12

10-10:30: sign in, Uncommon discussion of the day, warm-up
10:30-11: skill instruction
11-11:45: workout with skills learned
11:45-12: cool down, questions

Speed and Agility Camp:
June 5-9 – Ages 8-12
June 12-16 – Ages 13-18

Agility according to the dictionary is the ability to change the body’s position efficiently, and requires the integration of isolated movement skills using a combination of balance, coordination, speed, reflexes, strength, and endurance. This camp will focus on quick feet, fine motor skills, balance when fatigued, and hand eye coordination. Agility is necessary in all sports and developing fine motor skills at a young age can help a child with proper proprioception, leading to less injury while growing and playing. Agility exercises are also fun and will give the child and enjoyment for moving even if they do not have a desire for a particular sport. An enjoyment in exercise and movement will lead to incorporating fitness into their life for the long term and decrease obesity and illness. Exercises and activity in this camp will include the agility ladder, fast footwork drills, ball tosses and catching, speed work, an endurance day, and several balance activities increasing in difficulty throughout the week. This camp is good for kids of all ages, ability levels, and sports interests. Each day of camp will also include an uncommon discussion topic of the day where the coach will discuss a different topic other than fitness that helps our children be better athletes. These topics include proper hydration and nutrition, teamwork skills, motivation, and goal setting. Price of the camp includes a certificate and a camp t-shirt.

Strength and Conditioning Camp:
June 19-23 – Ages 8-12
June 26-30 – Ages 13-18

This camp will focus on the overall strength and cardiovascular health of the athlete. The kid will learn proper technique for several age appropriate exercises that utilize equipment including dumbbells, kettlebells, barbells, weight plates, and resistance bands. This camp will also have the child sweating and increasing their heart rate by using the various cardio equipment such as Jacob’s ladder, the rower, the ski erg, and the assault bike. The camp will also teach the athlete the proper way to warm up and cool down as well as several different techniques for preventing injury through stabilization and mobilization. This camp is great for athletes of all ages, ability levels, and sports interest. Each day of camp will also include an uncommon discussion topic of the day where the coach will discuss a different topic other than fitness that helps our children be better athletes. These topics include proper hydration and nutrition, teamwork skills, motivation, and goal setting. Price of the camp includes a certificate and a camp t-shirt.

Teen Weight Lifting Camp
July 10-14 – Ages 13-18

This camp will focus on proper technique, form, and execution of several lifts to include back squats, front squats, deadlifts, bench press, push press, and hang clean. The athlete will practice and work on proper form of these lifts and will also work on proper mobility needed in order to correctly execute the lifts without causing injury. The camp will also focus on other exercises that help build strength for these lifts such as wall balls, box squats, goblet squats, proper chin ups and pulls ups, and the perfect push up. This camp is great for athletes who are interested in weight lifting as a sport or hobby or those that have strength training at school. This camp will ensure that they go back to school or sport training with the education and practice of proper technique so that they can continue to get stronger without getting hurt. Each day of camp will also include an uncommon discussion topic of the day where the coach will discuss a different topic other than fitness that helps our children be better athletes. These topics include proper hydration and nutrition, teamwork skills, motivation, and goal setting. Price of the camp includes a certificate and a camp t-shirt.

Healthy Living Camp
July 17-21 – Ages 8-12
July 24-28 – Ages 13-18

This camp will focus on fitness and health as a lifestyle and give the child a love for movement, healthy nutrition, sleep, and relaxation. It will integrate all aspects of health and fitness into the week. The camp will focus on strength, cardiovascular health, flexibility, stability, nutrition, and emotional health. The camp will utilize exercises that use body weight as well as equipment such as kettle bells, dumbbells, and resistance bands. This will ensure the athlete learns that they can participate in fitness regardless of their setting whether it be at home or in a gym. The camp will also have a day of yoga, flexibility, and mobility and another day of injury prevention and stability. The camp will have guest speakers including a nutritionist and a college level athlete to speak on the lifestyle they have to maintain in order to participate in their sport at a high level. The camp will teach the kids that in order to be Uncommon they need to focus on more than just exercise. A healthy sleep schedule, nutrition plan, and social life will help them be the best they can be. Each day of camp will also include an uncommon discussion topic of the day where the coach will discuss a different topic other than fitness that helps our children be better athletes. These topics include proper hydration and nutrition, teamwork skills, motivation, and goal setting. Price of the camp includes a certificate and a camp t-shirt.

Challenge Camp
July 31-August 4 – Ages 8-18

This camp is not for the faint of heart. Campers will compete with their similar age group. This camp will test the athletes strength, endurance, agility, and mental strength. Each day will have a different challenge to complete. The challenges will include personal and partner challenges to work on team work. There will be a daily winner of the challenge as well as a weekly winner. This camp will focus on the benefits of competition and teach the athlete to persevere and work hard to achieve the goals they set for themselves for each challenge. The goal of this camp is for the kid to strive and reach their personal best even if they don’t win the competition for that day. This camp will help your athlete push themselves and surprise themselves with the goals they can achieve throughout the week. Each day of camp will start with a warm up and a skills session to teach all of the movements in the challenge. Each athlete will complete the challenge and cheer others on as they compete. There will be prizes for reaching goals as well as a grand prize for the overall winner. Each day of camp will also include an uncommon discussion topic of the day where the coach will discuss a different topic other than fitness that helps our children be better athletes.
